The inversion

Two ways to run a drone programme.

One of them is genuinely right for some organisations. If flying is a service you buy, buy the service. But if your programme is a public duty, a licence condition or a national asset, the room cannot sit in someone else’s building — and sovereignty that stops at the database is not sovereignty.

  • Your video, your telemetry and your incident record travel out to be watched.
  • Capability arrives quickly — and can leave just as quickly at renewal.
  • The institutional memory of your airspace accumulates on a supplier’s payroll.
  • When an inquiry asks who held command that night, the answer is a company name.

A reasonable choice when flying is a service you consume and nobody is going to ask you who was watching the screen. Plenty of programmes are exactly that.

Measure what is already there.

We walk the building before we draw anything. Connectivity and its second path, radio coverage and backhaul, power and changeover, sightlines, acoustics, the rooms you already have and the people you already employ. Then the flying: tempo, sites, airspace class, and the authority you answer to.

An operations centre is only as good as the systems it can reach on the worst night of the year. These are the five groups we scope on almost every site.

Read this before the tiles. Everything in this section is delivered by the engagement and integrated on site — not shipped platform adapters. Where a platform adapter does exist we name it and state what state it is in, using the same maturity labels as the rest of the product. The shipped catalogue is listed underneath, unedited.

Fixed cameras on the same wall as the drone feeds, so an operator is not switching between two systems while an incident is running. Camera call-up from the incident, and recording that lands in the same evidence record as the flight.

Your people

We train the crew. You employ them.

A room is furniture until somebody is sitting in it at four in the morning knowing exactly what to do. Staffing is designed in phase two and proved in phase five.

Holds the watch. Owns the escalation ladder, authorises within delegation, and closes the log at handover.

Competency sign-off

  • Per operator, per position, against written criteria you keep.
  • Instruction, then supervised watches, then an assessed watch.
  • Recorded in your system, not ours — we do not hold your training record.
  • Re-validated on your cadence using the drill library we leave behind.
  • A named assessor from your organisation, trained during phase five.

What this page does not claim.

Every one of these is a question you would eventually ask. Answering them here is cheaper for both of us than answering them in month four of a programme.

There is no badge to hold.

No scheme accredits a UTM platform in most jurisdictions today, so nobody can hand you one — and you should be wary of anyone implying otherwise. What we hand you instead is a re-runnable evidence trail: the official InterUSS qualification suites for ASTM F3548-21 and F3411, the JARUS SORA 2.5 tables pinned in continuous integration, and tenant-isolation checks you run yourself, on your stack, whenever you like. Verified, not certified.

We do not fly your aircraft or watch your wall.

There is no FlightStudio operations desk standing by, and there never will be. If what you want is a supplier to hold the watch, we are the wrong shape of company — deliberately, because a company that also operates rooms has a reason to make yours dependent.

Engagement integrations are not product features.

A radio gateway or a VMS bridge built for your site is delivered under the engagement, documented, and handed to you. It does not silently become a supported platform adapter because it works in your room, and we will not list it on a capability page as though it ships in the box.

Maturity labels do not move for a deal.

GA, Beta, Preview and Planned mean what they say across every page we publish. Preview means you can see it, not depend on it. Planned means it is not built. Labels change when observed runtime evidence changes them — not when a commercial conversation gets close.

The physical works are not ours to warrant.

Walls, containment, power and cabling are delivered by contractors under your procurement, to a design we own and an acceptance test we run alongside you. We will tell you when a room cannot do what the design needs, which is a more useful thing to buy from us than a warranty.
